Diaspora! 2024 – New Festival Launches This May
Brand new Bristol and South West festival Diaspora! 2024 takes place up to and including the Bank Holiday weekend
This May sees the launch of a brand new festival celebrating cultural diversity through art. Diaspora 2024! will include the work of nearly 200 artists across over 30 venues.
Amongst the 70 events will be talks on creative mediums, theatre, poetry, dance and screen events. Venues taking part in the festival include Bristol Old Vic, Museum of Bath at Work, Bristol Cathedral, Bristol Ferries, Tobacco Factory, The Greenway Centre, The Watershed, RWA, The Plough Inn, The Canteen and ACTA Community Theatre.
The event will be platforming artists from underrepresented diasporas from countries to include those in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Central and South America.
Diaspora! was founded by Deasy Bamford, Vandna Mehta and Ruth Pitter. Arts and culture organisation Diverse Artists Network (DAN) has developed and produced the festival.
“DIASPORA! is a natural progression of all the work we have done at DAN to create more and lasting connections between artists, venues and communities of culture,” Vandna Mehta says.
“With our diligent and dedicated festival team, we really hope to make a difference for the region, to build something special, representative and fun for all.”
The festival will be taking place from 03 -06 May 2024.
