Clean Slate at the White Theatre

Clean Slate, by Louisa Marshall and Amber Charlie Conroy, will be at the White Theatre in Bristol this June.
It’s a chance to see a brand new work in progress performance followed by a feedback forum for the two theatre makers.
The Bristol-based pair make what they call ‘socially engaged comedy’ which is rooted in research and rage, as well as real-life experiences.
The show is in the final stages of its development ahead of a run at the Riverside Studios in London. Excitingly for the pair, it will then go to the Summerhall for the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
The show has been created in collaboration with Cultural Studies scholar and world-leading audience researcher Dr Kirsty Sedgman at the University of Bristol.
Clean Slate is described as a ‘darkly comic’ piece of theatre which is ‘highly interative’.
It explores the effects of weaponised incompetence and unpaid domestic labour.
‘Blowjobs, Bleach, and Beef Bourguignon. A woman’s domestic life crumbles as she is pushed to breaking point by her boyfriend’s relentless domestic incompetence –– and you’ve been cast as the boyfriend. She navigates the full weight of cooking, cleaning, planning, and hosting while questioning how much more she can take. Clean Slate refuses to let you sit comfortably in the dark; it drags you into the mess. You’re not merely watching – you’re a witness, a confidante, an unwilling participant. One moment, you’re laughing; the next, the air is thick with something unspoken. How many plates can pile up before they start being thrown?’
Clean Slate will be at the White Theatre on 05 June 2025
