Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Bristol update shows the Hippodrome will be getting Layton Williams and Shane Richie
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, will be hitting the roads on UK tour from September 2021. The hit musical will be running at the Bristol Hippodrome from the 19 – 23 October.
Layton Williams will be reprising the role of Jamie New alongside Shane Richie as Hugo/Loco Chanelle.
The Jamie Musical is based on the true story of Jamie Campbell, who featured in TV documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16. Director Jonathan Butterell saw the programme which inspired him to create the show. Whilst based on true events, the musical has fictionalised some events and characters.
Jamie New is 16, lives on a council estate in Sheffield and wants to wear a dress to school prom. The triumph over adversity story features a fantastic score of tunes from Dan Gillespie Sells with book and lyrics by Tom MacRae.
The show has recently been made into a movie although release has been held up by the coronavirus pandemic.
Producer Nica Burns, must be thrilled to see the show opening again in the West End and out on tour after several attempts to stage the show during the pandemic.
