Follow The Signs at Tobacco Factory Theatres this September
‘Joyous’ show comes to south Bristol theatre this September
Brand new company Fuse Theatre, will be bringing Follow The Signs to Tobacco Factory Theatres this September.
The show is an accessible and inclusive fusion of theatre, spoken English, hip hop, movement and creative captioning. Most importantly, it’s all led by British Sign Language (BSL).
The story shares Chris Fonseca’s life from becoming Deaf at the age of two, struggling through education, to trying to find his place in the world as a Black and Deaf man.
It was his teenage years when music and dance became part of his life. It ultimately led to him meeting Raffie Julien, a mixed-race Deaf woman whose lived experience seemingly couldn’t be more different.
Described as ‘joyous and moving’, Follow The Signs has been created to be enjoyed by both hearing and Deaf audiences together.
Fuse Theatre is an exciting new company founded by Bristol-based producer Sian Weeding with director Harry Jardine and dancer/choreographer Chris Fonseca. The work they stage puts BSL at its heart.
Follow the Signs has been written by Fonseca and Jardine. It features entirely original music by Yacoub Didi. The show is directed by Jardine with dramaturgy by Kirsty Housley.
Follow The Signs will be at Tobacco Factory Theatres from 04 – 07 September 2024
