Somerset Theatre Group to Stream Pantos For Free This Christmas

  • The Glastonbury and Street Musical Comedy Society (GSMCS) will stream previous shows during December online

A Somerset amateur dramatic group will be bringing pantomime directly into homes this Christmas after their annual show was cancelled due to coronavirus.

The Glastonbury and Street Musical Comedy Society (GSMCS) will stream recordings of three of its recent pantomimes online for free so that families do not miss out on their festive treat.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will premiere on 02 December, Jack and the Beanstalk on 16 December and Goldilocks and the Three Amazing Bears on 30 December. Shows will start at 4.45pm, with a ten minute break before act two starts.

“Our yearly treat of the delight of pantomime has been denied us this year, so it’s a great idea to take pantomime to the homes of people who love it,” panto writer Matthew Maisey said.

“Fabulous dances, familiar characters and stories, and most of all the jokes to make us laugh cringe and smile! We deserve that, so I hope everyone enjoys revisiting these wonderful productions.”

The shows can be watched on the groups YouTube page: YouTube streaming though has asked for donations to be made where possible to allow the group to continue producing work in the future.
