Hansel & Gretel Cast Announced For Tobacco Factory Theatres
The South Bristol theatre has teamed up with New International Encounter
Casting has been announced and rehearsals are go at Tobacco Factory Theatres for their festive production of Hansel & Gretel.
The theatre has once again teamed up to co-produce the show with New International Encounter (NIE) for what promises to be another brilliant theatrical treat.
Tickets have been flying so fast from the box office that the theatre has added an additional five performances to the run to meet demand.
Cast has been announced as Joey Hickman, Stefanie Mueller, Abayomi Oniyide and Samantha Sutherland, returning from The Snow Queen two years ago. They are joined by Bristol-based theatre maker Martin Bonger.
Director of Hansel & Gretel and Co-Artistic Director of NIE, Alex Byrne said that Bristol is the company’s ‘favourite place to perform’.
Byrne said: “It is always a joy to bring together this multi-talented cast at Tobacco Factory Theatres at Christmas, it is a special place indeed. As always with our shows, this cast, as well as taking on these wonderful characters, will perform a gorgeous original score created by Composer Elliot Davis with musical direction from Joey Hickman.”
‘’This really is the most wonderous time of year for any theatre,” Artistic Director of Tobacco Factory Theatres, Heidi Vaughan adds.
“It’s also the most important in terms of support from audiences. We were blown away last year with a record-breaking festive season at TFT – over 19,000 people coming through our doors. We’ve already had to extend the run of Hansel & Gretel this year due to popular demand and we are truly thrilled to welcome NIE back with this magical show following our wonderful co-productions in the past.”
The show is based on The Brothers Grimm’s fairy-tale Hansel and Gretel. What will they find inside that cottage made of cake and sweets in the middle of the wood?
The show is suitable for all ages five years upwards.
Hansel & Gretel runs at Tobacco Factory Theatres from 28 November – 19 January 2025
