Review: Uncanny: Fear of the Dark Live Show at Bristol Old Vic
Sceptics, believers and the uncertain will all love this paranormal show
Not strictly a review as this was something we popped to see for fun. But, if you can manage to get your hands on a ticket for Uncanny: Fear of the Dark Live Show which is on at the Bristol Old Vic this week, do it because it’s a good one.
For those familiar with the Uncanny series whether it’s the podcast or TV show, the live stage show is an extra treat.
The clever format investigates tales of paranormal activity, hauntings, criptids and even UFOs from the point of view of sceptic and believer mixed with witness accounts, research and a strong dose of logic.
It’s all brought together by the engaging Danny Robins who hosts the shows.
He’s in Bristol with paranormal experts Ciarán O’Keeffe and Evelyn Hollow.
There’s six new cases for the audience to listen to as well as Q&A opportunities and the sharing of personal experiences.
The show is written by Danny Robins with direction from Sam Hodges and some brilliant illusions created by Chris Cox. These went well with lighting design by Elliot Griggs and sound design by Roly Botha.
It enhanced the storytelling with jumpscares and supernatural effects.

Ahead of each performance, the team do a Meet and Greet, for which tickets are available free in advance.
It was a genuinely engaging show, cleverly written to entertain and bring the audience into its immersive experience.
Fans of Uncanny will love this. As will people who find TV ghost shows and the subject of paranormal experiences fascinating. “We want answers.”
