Christmas Comes To Brunel Square This Week
It’s time for the annual Christmas tree lights switch on
Christmas will be coming to the Harbourside this week, right outside the home of SS Great Britain.
There will be another lovely Christmas tree for Brunel Square, with its lights being switched on this Thursday.
This year’s Christmas tree will stand at 26 ft tall.
‘Golden Glow’ is the theme for the festivities. Those popping along can enjoy mince pies, seasonal hot chocolates and mulled wine from brand new restaurant The Board Walk.
The SHE Choir Bristol will be providing live music. And, Father Christmas and Mr Brunel himself will be coming along to take part in the festivities.
SS Great Britain will be keeping their gift shop open into the evening for a spot of late night shopping.

This year’s Christmas tree and Golden Ticket programme is sponsored by Renishaw, who aim to broaden participation in STEM.
The Golden Ticket programme provides free school visits for children who live in areas experiencing educational deprivation.
The Education Team at SS Great Britain run the Golden Ticket scheme, which they have expanded every year to ensure more young people in Bristol can benefit from the experience.

Renishaw, has also produced a Christmas decoration for each school taking part in the programme.
“This initiative supports our long-term commitment to STEM outreach and education, and it’s a wonderful way to celebrate engineering, our local schools and community during the festive season,” Chris Pockett of Renishaw says.
The Christmas Tree switch on event is on 27 November from 5pm-6.30pm
