Kiota Presents Blessed Hands at The Wardrobe Theatre

The show is followed by a post supper get-together

A solo performance piece exploring Sephardi Heritage, Migration and Solidarity comes to The Wardrobe Theatre this month.

Blessed Hands, brings together interviews and historical research, merging it into a dynamic piece of theatre and told with storytelling, comedy, clowning, dance and song.

It’s written and will be performed by Dr Michal Nahman. Presented by Kiota, a Bristol performance collective which showcases artists from the Global Majority, Blessed Hands is based on scholarly research into Sephardi and Mizrachi foodways and identities.

Savta is a ‘slightly tetchy’ Turkish Sephardi grandmother. Standing at an intersection of nostalgia, authenticity and victimhood, she conjures Jewish recipes.

Blessed Hands holds up a mirror to the Jewish eternal experience, telling a journey of humour, grief, love and global solidarity.

Following the performance, audiences are invited to join Kiota at a special three-course meal of Sephardi-inspired supper club at Coexist Community Kitchen in Easton.

Over food, there will be an exploration of the show’s themes, including a talk by social anthropologist Dr Michal Nahman.

Anyone is welcome to book, you don’t need to have seen the show.
