Bristol Anime and Gaming Con 2022

Bristol families with children aged preteens upwards, may have noticed a surge of interest in all things Anime in recent years. This was clearly evident at the Bristol Anime and Gaming Con, which took place at the Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel this weekend.

The event was packed with groups of teenagers, adults and plenty of families, most wearing high-quality cosplay from various Anime universes – much to the amusement of shoppers in Broadmead, who bestowed baffled looks at the hoardes of young people dressed to the nines as their beloved characters.

Whilst not being an Anime connoisseur, the young person I took had a magnificent time spending all of my money on Japanese pop culture, food and drink, badges, a cat tail and ears and large Anime cushion.

The event had a programme of entertainment running across the weekend ranging from drawing presentations to talent shows and a large hall of gaming opportunities.

We’re hoping to see the event back next year, and this time I will know how to break into a marble topped bottle of pop without making a spectacle of myself.
