Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Summer Festival at The Wardrobe Theatre

Audiences will be able to enjoy a festival of theatre staged by graduates of Bristol’s world leading theatre school this summer.

The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, will be bringing a programme of contemporary writing to the stage, all of which will be put together by this year’s graduates.

The talent includes those who have studied acting, directing, design and tech ahead of their move to work professionally in the industry. It gives Bristol audiences a chance to see professionals at the start of their career, some of whom will go on to become leading industry professionals and potential household names.

The event will be taking place at The Wardrobe Theatre across May and June.

The programme of work will see a daily double bill of writing from the UK and beyond. It includes that of Kae Tempest, Abi Morgan, Tom Basden, Elinor Cook, Phoebe Eclair-powell and Owen Horsley, Brad Birch, Marius von Mayenburg and Luke Barnes.

“We are delighted to be welcoming back the students of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School,” Matthew Whittle of The Wardrobe Theatre said.

“Each year they bring with them bags of energy and an eclectic mix of plays. For 2023 there’s something to please everyone: side-splitting comedies, psychological thrillers, and celebrating stories from diverse communities. The staff at the Old Market Assembly are ready to greet you before or after the show, making our venue the number one choice for a brilliant night out in Bristol this summer.”

The event runs from the 25 May – 17 June 2023.
