Cast of Family Tree Joins Bristol Henrietta Lacks Statue

Actor Aminita Francis made a trip to visit the statue of Henrietta Lacks in Bristol this week. The cast member of Family Tree, which is currently at Tobacco Factory Theatres, is playing the role of Henrietta.

Aminita was joined by former Lord Mayor of Bristol Cleo Lake, a popular mayor within Bristol communities for her skilled and graceful handling of the many heated council debates and exchanges taking place at City Hall.

The statue was created by Black Bristol artist Helen Wilson-Roe, who worked directly with the Lacks family for many years. Her work aims to highlight the injustices the family have suffered through the HeLa cell line.

The statue can be found at: 51°27’29.3″N 2°36’05.6″W

Family Tree is at Tobacco Factory Theatres until 17 June 2023
