Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet at Wales Millennium Centre Closest Venue to Bristol

Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet at Wales Millennium Centre:

Alert! Matthew Bourne’s new production of Romeo and Juliet will not be coming to Bristol.

The world premiere of his new work will be going on tour from 13 May – 12 Oct 2019 and will feature design by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Paul Groothuis. It’s the first new ballet from New Adventures since The Red Shoes in 2016.

The tour will be going to Curve Theatre in Leicester, The Alhambra Theatre in Bradford, Royal & Derngate in Northampton, Theatre Royal in Plymouth, The Lowry in Salford, Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Sadler’s Wells in London, Theatre Royal Norwich in Norwich, Birmingham Hippodrome in Birmingham, The Marlowe in Canterbury, Mayflower Theatre in Southampton, Theatre Royal in Nottingham and Newcastle Theatre Royal in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Whilst the ballet not coming to Bristol is incredibly disappointing news, The Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff is close to Bristol. Severn Bridge crossing is free from the end of the year and the WMC is an hour on train from Bristol Temple Meads and a 15 minute bus journey to Cardiff Bay.
