Bristol theatre company return for one night only with latest acclaimed production

Full Frontal Theatre returns to the city for one night only with brand new show Rodney Black: Who Cares? It’s Working.

The Bristol theatre company is in its infancy, bursting onto the scene a little over a year ago, taking no prisoners with fresh, ballsy writing.

Last year’s To Watch A Man Eat was an audacious piece of theatre. At times it provoked a visceral reaction from its appreciative audience.

It’s no surprise to hear new show Rodney Black, has already been causing a stir. It’s been picking up awards – including the Alpine Fellowship Theatre Prize – and garnered rave audience reviews on social media.

The play is an interrogation of comedy. It follows up and coming controversial stand-up Rodney Black who is at the peak of his career. Dividing public opinion, he both titillates and aggravates audiences in equal measure. A violent crime committed by one of his Super Fans leaves him grappling with the ethical implications of his new found spotlight.

The theatre company asks ‘where we might draw the line between who is actually ‘just kidding’ and who is masking malicious intent.’ It questions the ‘complications and responsibilities’ that come with ‘influence’.

It’s the second play by Sadie Pearson, also writer of To Watch A Man Eat. Together with actor director and theatre maker Hen Ryan and producer Grace Shropshire, the three make up Full Frontal Theatre.
