The Best Place To Sit In The Wardrobe Theatre
There’s no bad seats in the auditorium so it will come down to preference and accessibility
The Wardrobe Theatre is on Old Market at the back of the The Old Market Assembly. It’s one of Bristol’s fringe theatres which has a really diverse line up of shows throughout the year. It really has something for everyone.
Tickets, in the main, are sold with early bird unreserved seating allowing choice of where you want to sit.
The theatre’s website has an excellent photo guide on the best places to sit for audience members with access requirements. It shows the different type of seating and where it is based in the auditorium.
Front of house staff can also reserve specific seats for accessibility purposes. There are also dedicated spaces for wheelchair users.

The photograph above shows the auditorium from the back right corner – stage right.
The back corner can be one of the better seats for autistic people to sit. There is no one behind them and no one to the left. And, as it is positioned at the top of stairs, there is no one sitting in front of you either.
Shows are often performed to the stage left block of seats, into the central stairs and towards the seats on the stage right side.
The blocking doesn’t always make it as far as the extreme edges of the stage right side of the auditorium. But, side seats can be the price you pay for having the least amount of people contact.
For theatre goers who are not neurodivergent, the obvious choice is the centre rows of stage left seating.
In terms of view, there isn’t a single bad seat in the auditorium, so it comes down to comfort and preference.
The Wardrobe Theatre is always super helpful and approachable, so do contact them ahead of time if you need any seating assistance.
