Bristol Theatre Company Heads To Edinburgh Fringe
The company will be taking their debut show Take Care to the famous fringe festival
Late Shift Theatre are one of the Bristol theatre companies headed to the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
The company was founded by three University of Bristol students – Edie Doherty, Millie Thomas and Rosy Brown – in May last year. As a theatre company, they aim to tell stories which are grounded in ‘lived experience’ and ‘social honesty’.
Their debut show Take Care, was staged at the Alma tavern Theatre last year, receiving acclaim for its ‘bold directorial choices’ and ‘heartfelt’ exploration of the care sector.
Their second show In Hysterics, was performed at The Wardrobe Theatre earlier this year.

It’s Take Care, that the company will be taking to the Fringe festival. The play has undergone further development in readiness for its August run.
It’s written by Edie Doherty based on Millie Thomas’ experiences of working in the care sector.
Edie was guided by Millie’s real experiences working in a care home for adults with learning disabilities. She aimed to highlight the ‘under-recognised and under-resourced’ sector.
Lilian, Richard, Cassandra, Chloe, Aidan and William are spending New Year’s Day on their shift at a care home. The world is recovering from New Year celebrations, whilst the staff care for the residents. There’s unexpected chaos, new arrivals and challenges facing the carers, shining a light on the realities of care work.
It’s described as ‘thoughtful, funny and profoundly human’. Take Care aims to celebrate community and the people we depend on who keep showing up no matter what.
Late Shift Theatre is running a Crowdfunder to help support the cost of accommodation at the notoriously expensive event. It has also been undertaking The Take Care Team’s Trek To Fringe. This has seen the company walk, run, swim and cycle the 600km distance from Bristol to Edinburgh.
The ensemble cast includes Li Friess, Milo Gray, Eloise Greenacre, Maddi Jabir, Charles Hubbard and Charlie Warwick.
Take Care will be at theSpace @ Surgeon’s Hall in Edinburgh Fringe from the 24 to the 29 of August 2026 at 4:05pm
