Bath Theatre Company Previews Work Ahead of Edinburgh

Sandcastles Productions’ is bringing their new play Pyg to Bristol this weekend, ahead of a run at Edinburgh Festival.

The Bath-based theatre company was established in 2024, aiming to give early career actors, writers, directors and creatives the chance to devise new work and stage it in professional venues.

Pyg, explores the questions – What do we become when we think nobody else is looking? And what happens when we are forced to watch ourselves?

The drama has themes of loneliness, companionship and the violence of wanting someone who won’t want you back.

A place between somewhere and nowhere. Three men. One mannequin. A line of tape that separates memory from forgetting.  

Harrison has been coming here for a year. Or maybe it’s his first time. Or his last. It depends which Harrison you ask—the teenager, the man in his thirties, the pensioner. They’ve all been summoned here for the same reason – if only they could figure out what that is.  

The mannequin stands at the centre of it all, and as it unravels Harrison’s life before his eyes, it becomes clear that there are darker truths about his world threatening to shatter his fantasies.  

Pyg is on in the Spielman Theatre of Tobacco Factory Theatres on 25 July 2026
