Bristol Old Vic Hosts National Theatre Connections This Week
The national festival sees young people perform brand new plays
Young people in Bristol are currently taking part in this year’s National Theatre Connections 2026.
The annual national programme is a youth theatre festival which sees those taking part get the chance to perform brand new plays on a professional stage.
There are 33 regional theatres taking part across the country, with Bristol Old Vic hosting Bristol’s young people.
“We are so excited to have theatres from the South West taking part in this year’s National Theatre Connections, providing the opportunity for hundreds of young people from across the area to showcase their talents on their stage,” Kirsten Adam, Head of Participation at the National Theatre said.
“Youth theatre is a foundation stone in young people’s development, allowing them to build their understanding of the world and develop key skills such as confidence and self-expression. We cannot wait to see this year’s participants’ imagination and creativity flourish during this year’s Connections festivals.”
This year’s performers include those from BIPA, St Brendan’s Sixth Form College, Cabot Learning Foundation Post 16, The Egg, Ashton Park School and Dt Bede’s Catholic College.
National Theatres Connections 2026 runs at Bristol Old Vic from 24 – 27 March 2026
