SS Great Britain Woeful Wounds Event This Half Term
The SS Great Britain will be bringing kitchen history to life this October half term with Woeful Wounds.
The ship has been celebrating its culinary history throughout the year, teaching visitors about the food Victorian passengers would have experienced on their voyages.
To coincide with the run up to Halloween, students from South Gloucestershire and Stroud (SGS) College, will be recreating actual accidents that happened on the ship’s travels.
Every illness and injury that occurred on the ship was carefully monitored and logged by the captain and surgeon. With food being prepared for nearly 1000 people five times a day, accidents happened, which the Woeful Wounds event will be recreating.
Young visitors will be able to have a gory cut or blister applied to their hand by the students who are currently on the college’s specialist make-up design course.
The Woeful Wounds event is aimed at children and young people from 4-18 years of age.
It will be taking place on board the SS Great Britain from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October and is included free with the ticket price.
