The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Returns to Bristol

Curious Incident Bristol:

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is back by popular demand on a UK and Ireland tour this year. Of course, it’s stopping off at The Bristol Hippodrome in October in what will be its third visit to the city.

The play has been seen by more than five million people across the globe, has won seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards.

It’s based on a novel by Mark Haddon, which tells the story of Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old who turns detective to find out who killed Wellington, his neighbour’s dog.

It is never mentioned in the story but widely accepted that Christopher has Aspergers. Those familiar with the neurodivergent condition will recognise his difficulties with social communication, sensory processing issues and rigid thinking.

Following in the footsteps of his hero Sherlock Holmes, Christopher’s mission to find out who perpetrated the crime will take him on a literal and figurative difficult journey.

The book – named after a line in the Holmes story Silver Blaze – has been adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens, with direction from Marianne Elliott, design by Scott Graham and music by Adrian Sutton.

The Curious Incident in the Night-Time will be at The Bristol Hippodrome from October 13-17 2020.
