Tobacco Factory Theatres has announced the cast for their 2019 Factory Company season. This year will feature two new productions – Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good.

Tobacco Factory Theatres Artistic Director Mike Tweddle, will be directing the Shakespeare comedy with Anna Girvan handling Wertenbaker’s take on the morality of crime and punishment in 1780’s Australia.

“I’m so delighted that we’ll be bringing together a world class ensemble of actors for four months once again who’ll perform two of the most exciting and entertaining plays you could hope to see and play a powerful role in our community engagement activities,” Mike Tweddle said.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a raucous, razor-sharp exposé of flawed relationships and societal snobbery and a glorious celebration of the fantastical.

“Our Country’s Good is one of the great 20th century plays. It transports the audience to a distant time and shore in order to shine a light on some of the biggest issues of today. Wertenbaker’s writing is hilarious, heart-wrenching and stunningly profound and requires a director and cast with imaginative flair and fearlessness.”

For A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the four lovers will be played by Evlyne Oyedokun, Paksie Vernon, Joseph Tweedale and Dan Wheeler.

In the fairy world, Charleen Qwaye will play Titania, Luca Thompson plays Oberon and Puck will be played by Kim Heron. Heather Williams will play Bottom.

In Our Country’s Good, Captain Arthur Phillip will be played by Luca Thompson and Second Lieutenant Ralph Clark by Joseph Tweedale.

Danann McAleer will play Captain David Collins and the role of Liz Morden will be played by Kim Heron.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run from Wednesday 20 February until Saturday 06 April 2019.

Our Country’s Good will run from Wednesday 17 April to Saturday 11 May 2019.
