Stage Premiere of Space Jam Opens At Loco Klub This Month
New ‘unofficial parody’ brings together live action, animation, music and a lot of fun
What does it take to put an iconic movie on stage when that movie is live action with animation?
Mid-nineties Space Jam is coming to the Loco Klub this October and will be doing just that. Blending live action on stage with an animated cast.
The show, from River Kite Theatre Company, brings together digital technologies with green screen virtual studios, 2 D animation, live actors and improv.
It’s a hugely ambitious project Where everything has been created from scratch. It features an original score and book, with brand new animation created specifically for the production by five animators and artists.
The company is keen not to drop any spoilers, but the latest trailor for the show looks like it’s going to be brilliant fun.
Audiences are being invited back to 1996 for what’s described as a ‘hilarious musical spoof’ of the classic movie which also promises ‘fresh twists and surprises’.
Space Jam: The (Unofficial Parody) Musical follows the adventures of basketball legend Baikal Gordon and his clumsy sidekick Sam Cadullaque. As Baikal is enlisted to save the inhabitants of the cartoon world from a group of evil space aliens.
Space Jam: The (Unofficial Parody) Musical will be at Loco Klub 09 – 10 October 2025
