Museum of the Moon Comes to Bristol Cathedral

Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon, will be returning to the city, visiting Bristol Cathedral this summer.

The art installation, featuring 120dpi NASA imagery of the moon’s surface at seven metres diameter, is always a popular attraction.

It was due to be displayed at Bristol Cathedral last year but postponed due to Coronavirus.

The Very Revd Dr Mandy Ford, Dean of Bristol said: “We are thrilled to be hosting this wonderful installation, by world renowned Bristol artist, Luke Jerram, in Bristol Cathedral. I hope that the Moon will inspire stories, songs, adventures, awe and wonder in everyone who visits us this summer.”

Museum of the Moon features a different dynamic experience for visitors as it travels from place to place. It picks up new stories, music and responses as well as adapting to the latest ‘moon science’.

Bristol-based composer, BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winner Dan Jones, is the composer behind the sound composition.

Museum of the Moon will be on display in the crossing of Bristol Cathedral from Wednesday 11 August to Monday 30 August 2021.

There will be opportunities to book evening slots.

Donations and proceeds from the display will go towards the work of Bristol-based charity St Mungo’s.
